Fosamax and Jawbone Death (Osteonecrosis)

Merck & Co.'s drug Fosamax has been linked to jawbone death. Also known as 'jaw osteonecrosis', a University of Texas study recently uncovered about 1,000 patients with the disease according to an article that appeared in the Los Angeles Times. A July, 2005 change to the label at the request of the Food & Drug Administration added a warning about jawbone death to its label.
